SunSun CUV-755 Stainless Steel UVC Clarifier Steriliser Filter UV Light 55W

Do you have algae problems in your pond? Do the algae multiply themselves under the influence of strong sunlight?

• Protects your fish against germs
• Safe and good for your fish and plants
• Provides clear water
• It purifies the pond water without the addition of chemicals
• It keeps algae, bacteria, and mould formation under control
• With universal hose connections

Functions
SunSun has installed an extraordinary water conduction in the stainless-steel housing of the CUV-700 series; the water is lead into a rotary motion by the water current. No helix is installed, that would be difficult to clean.

At the same time, the stainless-steel housing reflects the UV-light. Light not directly absorbed is reflected on the surface of the pond and can act on it again. By this, the contact time of the water to be clarified and the UVC radiation and the intensity of this are more than doubled. The whole UV device is made of stainless steel, only the connections and the technical part are made of resin so that the device is very robust. The used stainless steel is polished that way that it hardly gets dirty and the reflection is not affected. The SunSun pond clarification impresses by its design, the sophisticated technic, and its long-lasting life.

The UVC pond clarifier provides – normally – within 14 days for clear pond water, provided that you combine the UVC pond clarifier with a biological pond filter. UVC pond clarifiers irradiate the pond water with UV-C radiation in a flow reactor. UVC pond clarifiers change the tertiary and quaternary structures of the algal proteins by their UV radiation. This means killing the algae. The algae clump into larger particles and can be easily removed from the water circuit by means of the mechanical pond filter in the pond filter.
The life span of the UVC-light source varies between 7.000 and 10.000 operating hours. We recommend changing the light source and cleaning the quartz glass of the UV lamp at the start of the season, when the water temperature of your pond rises. The flowing water is purged of harmful bacteria and germs. The reduction of germs has no negative effect on the microclimate of the pond because bacteria settle themselves on stones, the filtration surface and in the whole pond system for reducing pollutants and they can reproduce themselves. The UV lamp can maintain the total microbial content of the water in near-natural proportions.

The water circulates through the two inlets of the UVC clarifier and in the process all impurities like algae, bacteria, or parasites are reduced. The more this circuit is maintained the more effective is the germ reduction.
What size do you need?
For ponds with koi, you can calculate 3 watts of water per m³ of water for the UV clarifier.

When should you use a UVC steriliser?

Do you have algae problems in your pond?

Do hoverflies proliferate too much in your pond when the sun is strong?

If there is a reason for assuming an increased microbial load, and if all other possibilities are exhausted, the permanent use of a UVC clarifier for reducing the germ count is urgently recommended. UV lamps are used to clarify pond water. Green suspended algae multiply very quickly when the pond water is exposed to organic pollution, and the pond water turns green. Especially in the spring when the temperatures rise and the time when the sun is shining increases this leads to a strong and often undesirable visual impairment in the garden pond.

UVC pond clarifiers irradiate the pond water with UV-C radiation in a flow reactor.

Sometimes one hears the argument that a UVC steriliser is unnatural. Although this is in principle correct, the statement is not a counterargument, because in this way, every pond filter and even the entire aquarium is “unnatural.” Furthermore, it is claimed that fish kept with a UVC pond clarifier are softened and become immediately ill after being converted into other water. Firstly, this is not the case, and secondly, the thesis that a biological pond filter is detrimental and a higher nitrite content contributes to making the fish stronger. Exactly the opposite is the case.

The water is also freed from harmful bacteria and germs. However, the germination reduction has no negative effect on the pond climate as bacteria can settle for the pollutant degradation on rocks, pond filter media, etc. in the entire pond system and can continue to multiply there. The UV lamp can maintain the total microbial content of the water in a healthy near-natural ratio. Mounting:
According to the VDE Directive, all electrical devices must be installed at 2-m safety distance from the water.

Please note: As this CUV clarifier is structured symmetrically, the connecting pipes can be used as inlets as well as outlets.

Safety Instructions

Safety Information

  • FeaturePlease read and follow the operating instructions and safety information prior to initial operation.
  • FeatureThe device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory and mental abilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised or have been given instructions concerning the correct use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • FeatureChildren should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
Risk of Eye and Skin Damage
  • FeatureThe UV-C radiation generated by the special lamps is dangerous. Direct contact with eyes or skin can cause damage. Never look into the UV-C light directly.
    Risk of Electric Shock
  • FeatureThe power supply of the filter system (resp. the circuit of the socket used) must be equipped with a residual-current device (RCD) with a rated residual current of no more than 30 mA. The socket into which the power cable is plugged should be protected with a weatherproof cover and be at least 2 metres away from the garden pond.
  • FeatureThe device may not be operated in swimming pools, paddling pools of any kind or other bodies of water in which people may be present during operation. Do not use the appliance while people are in the danger zone.
  • FeatureMake sure to switch off the device before carrying out any maintenance or repair work and disconnect it from the power supply by pulling out the plug.
  • FeatureBefore initial operation, ensure that the mains voltage matches the rated voltage on the rating plate.
  • FeatureIf the device is damaged, it must no longer be used.
